An Evening of Dhrupad

Sivananda Ashram, 673 8e Av, Val Morin, QC

Payton MacDonald, Ina Filip, and Shawn Mativetsky present an evening of Dhrupad, the ancient music of India. Dhrupad is the oldest existing form of Indian Classical Music, with a 700-year history. Dhrupad has its roots in the chanting of the ancient Vedic mantras, and is majestic and calming. Payton and Ina are learning Dhrupad from master musicians the Gundecha Brothers. Shawn learned tabla from the great maestro Pandit Sharda Sahai.
